Honda President Says NSX Successor Back on Track, May Use a Hybrid Drivetrain

nghai Auto Show was good news for fans of Honda as a Japanese automaker has unveiled plans to develop a new sports car is the spiritual successor to the iconic Honda NSX (Acura NSX in North America).

1992 Acura NSXSpeaking margin of the series, Honda Motor Company President, Takanobu Ito said the new car will not turn on the V10, which was scheduled for the next NSX, the company abandoned the project in 2008, the Global Financial Crisis . Ito told reporters that the future NSX would be exciting to drive, but also the environment. "This is the type of sport you want to do. We worked very hard for him, Ito was quoted by Auto News.

2002 Acura Honda NSXThe official offered no further details on the sports car or a timetable for the launch. But a spokesman for Honda, the car is expected to use an electric motor to give the gas engine a boost, a bit like the CR-Z sports hybrid. But unlike the latter, the NSX successor positioned as a high performance hybrid car.

2002 Acura NSX NSX successor plans were canceled InteriorInitial former president Takeo Fukui Honda, which justified the move, then the measure of cost savings. The car was likely to be on the front V10 engine developing at least 500 horsepower. Transmission ended up using Honda HSV-010 GT racing, the racing version of the not-to-be-produced V10 NSX.

1991 Acura NSX NSXThe original was powered by a V6 mid-engine producing 270 horsepower (with 5-speed manual transmission.) The NSX is out of production in late 2005 after a career of 14 long years.

2007 Acura Advanced Sports Concept Review

Acura's Advanced Sports Car Concept bears all the necessary design elements of a proper sports car: sharp, aggressive edges, a low and wide silhouette, a slightly phallic side profile, and of course, a rear window that stands somewhere between hardly usable and nonexistent. As a whole, the ASCC looks clean and modern but also recalls some late '80s sports cars, specifically the Mark III Toyota Supra. The slim headlights and full-width taillight are meant to mimic those of the iconic Acura NSX. Inside, an all-black cockpit does the same.

Underneath the sleek sheetmetal lives a front-mounted V-10 that will surely upset NSX lovers who brag of that car's mid-engine layout. A new version of Acura's Super Handling All-Wheel Drive (SH-AWD) will favor the rear wheels to keep enthusiasts happy, but the front wheels go into action when the first inevitable four-wheel power slide happens. The ASCC rides on a 108.8-inch wheelbase with an overall length of 181.5 inches, and was designed by Acura's L.A.-based American design team. We must say, they've done a much better job here than with the sedan concept shown at the 2006 Los Angeles show. No word on when Acura's next sports car will go into production, but it won't been soon enough.
