2012 Porsche 918 Spyder Prototype test drives on Nurburgring

2012 Porsche 918 Spyder Prototype test drives on Nurburgring - On September 18th, in test drives on the “Nurburgring-Nordschleife”, a Porsche 918 Spyder prototype turned in a remarkable best time of just 07:14 minutes for the 20.6 km long circuit. One year before its production launch, the plug-in hybrid super sports car from Porsche AG is already proving its superlative dynamic performance potential far surpassing all expectations placed in it. Dr. Frank Walliser, overall project leader for the 918 Spyder: “By turning in a fabulous time of 07:14 minutes, the 918 Spyder prototype has already fully confirmed the viability of its future concept after just a few months on the road.”

The lap time of the Porsche 918 Spyder prototype is one of the best ever clocked for street-legal vehicles with standard production tyres. The course was only available to the development team from Weissach for one lap, and it had to be started from a standstill. The plug-in hybrid super sports car with over 795 hp was equipped with production tyres from development partner Michelin as well as the optional “Weissach” package, which integrates modifications that boost driving performance.

2013 TechArt Porsche Boxster

2013 TechArt Porsche Boxster - The sporty look can be recognized straight away on the front and rear. The two-part TECHART front spoiler with integrated splitter flows perfectly into the design of the Porsche 981 and allows the front of the vehicle to sit even closer to the ground. A fixed rear spoiler proficiently picks up on the sporty impression of the front and makes also a clear sporty statement. The exterior program is rounded off by plenty of details such as elegantly designed mirror trims on the side mirrors, decorative crosspieces on the side air vents or subtle trims on the rear and diffuser.

Perfectly aligned to the exterior design: the original TECHART wheels for the Porsche Boxster in 21-inch size. The sporty elegant appearance continues; whether in the classically purist five spoke design of the TECHART Formula light alloy wheels or the dynamic double spoke design of the TECHART Formula III forged wheels.

In combination to the TECHART wheel design, the TECHART twin tailpipes made of polished stainless steel in a classic rounded design and the individually colored exterior packages let the car be a unique piece. The optional TECHART sound muffler or the TECHART sport exhaust system with valve control provide acoustic support that gives the Boxster a strong and sporty sound. The program will be completed in the exterior with the TECHART sport spring kit and a lowering of 30 mm at the front and 20 mm at the rear axle of the car.

The sporty and elegant design line is also continues in the interior. The TECHART manufacture offers a range of individual options that allow the driver of the Porsche 981 to feel free in any way of individualization. A full leather interior with a decorative stitching in combination with the TECHART styling packages set highlights in the interior. Selected carbon fiber packages provide the intentionally sporty, high quality touch. In connection with the ergonomically mounted TECHART paddle shifters the TECHART 3-spokes sports steering wheels guarantee precision control over the vehicle and allow simple and fast gear changes with maximum driving pleasure.

2013 Porsche Carrera GT Review

2013 Porsche Carrera GT Review. A illusory Porsche Carrera GT seen in a good city of Shanghai by reader J-Wing, appreciate we for a pic! The Carrera GT is intensely singular in China since it was never strictly sole over here, some cars however managed to flog emselves by a doorway around a gray market. Only final month we saw a insane Gemballa Mirage GT arrive, in Shanghai as well. The Carrera GT was powered by a 5.7 liter V10 that pooped out 612hp and 590nm, good for a 325km/h tip speed and a 0-100 in 3.7 seconds.

2012 JE Design Porsche Cayenne Progressor

2012 JE Design Porsche Cayenne Progressor. JE DESIGN has developed the new “PROGRESSOR” aerodynamics kit (14,280 euro) for the Porsche Cayenne, giving it a very special shot of testosterone with a more distinctive and muscular appearance.

The JE DESIGN front skirt with optimized air intake is available in two versions, making it possible to use the standard LED lights on both the Cayenne Turbo / GTS and the Cayenne Diesel / S. The light design makes a statement in the daytime as well as at night. With two low-mounted fog lamps and two high beam lights, JE DESIGN has given the Porsche Cayenne a distinctive appearance, while at the same time increasing safety. Three air outlets are mounted on the specially designed sports hood for improved ventilation. The rear of the Porsche Cayenne from JE DESIGN is also more muscular: four huge tailpipes, each with a diameter of 100 millimeters (for the Cayenne S / GTS / Turbo also optionally available as sport rear mufflers with throttle control for 2,856 euro), a diffusor and side roof spoiler extension, as well as the flared wheel arches are an impressive demonstration that this Porsche Cayenne has been given a very special modification.

The side roof spoiler extension not only looks good, it serves a purpose by reducing dirt build-up on the rear windshield. So that the Cayenne can still be used as a towing vehicle, a removable cover is built into the underside of the rear skirt, allowing Porsche’s optional trailer hitch to be used. The bottom door trims blend seamlessly into the Porsche design language and their air inlet give the Cayenne an even sportier look. The sports hood and the side roof spoiler extension are also available individually on request.

With its lowering (starting at 1,428 euro), JE DESIGN has gone for the latest technology and the air suspension module from JE DESIGN can even be controlled via an iPhone app. The functionality of the Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) damping system is retained. The result is individual lowering and improved performance. The 10 x 22-inch alloy rims are from the range of wheels developed specially for Porsche and are available both in the SCORPIO design in matt black – silver front (five double spokes, complete set of wheels: 4,810 euro) and in the SUV Select design (five spokes, complete set of wheels: 5,190 euro).

JE DESIGN offers the full upgrade including fitting, painting, vehicle inspection, lowering and a complete set of 22-inch wheels with wheel spacers for 28,038 euro.

Porsche Sport Cars speedART Boxster SP81-R

Porsche Sport Cars speedART Boxster SP81-R

German tuner SpeedArt is the first company to release a tuning program for the brand new Porsche Boxster S (981), called Porsche Sport Cars speedART Boxster SP81-R. The Porsche Boxster is the car that saved Stuttgart from the brink when it was launched. Yet they have moved further than ever before with from the affordable and simple sportscar that it once was. Th 2012 model is lower, wider and much longer, and the Boxster S will reach 100 km/h in just 5 seconds despite only having just over 300 horsepower. The third generation Porsche Boxster has exited speedART's garage after it received a mild makeover and a small power boost.
Based on the Porsche Boxster (981), the model features an aerodynamic body kit with a front spoiler, revised side skirts, a rear diffuser and a prominent wing. Porsche Sport Cars speedART Boxster SP81-R can also be equipped with 20- and 21-inch LSC forged alloy wheels. This, combined with an ECU remap, has increased power of the 981 models by 20hp and 15lb-ft of torque. The brand new 981 Boxster's 2.7-liter flat-six thus manages 285hp and 221lb-ft of torque; while the Boxster S is good for 335hp and 281lb-ft. The sport exhaust with sound switch is developed for individual sound control and can be combined with various tailpipe designs including different ultra-light Titanium sport exhaust systems.

2013 Porsche Sport Cars Prototype 918 Spyder

2013 Porsche Sport Cars Prototype 918 Spyder
Porsche will offer one of the world's first plug-in electric supercars in 2013. With two electric engines and a V8 based of their RS Spyder Le Mans prototype. Porsche has confirmed that the project is going according to plan and that the 918 Spyder will begin production in September of 2013, possibly after a showing at the Frankfurt motor show, with the first cars being delivered to owners before the year is out, although Australian buyers will miss out on the most extreme Porsche yet, as it will only be made in left-hand-drive.
2013 Porsche Sport cars Prototype 918 Spyder
The company has released pictures of prototype versions of the open-top petrol electric sports car that can sprint from 0-100km/h in less than three seconds, while sipping as little fuel as a Toyota Prius. Porsche says the 2013 Porsche Sportcars Prototype 918 Spyder will reach 200km/h in less than nine seconds before cracking 300km/h in less than 27 seconds. The complex hybrid drivetrain is primarily driven by a rear-mounted 4.6-litre V8 engine producing about 425kW of power. It’s teamed to a 90kW rear-mounted electric motor and a single 80kW front-mounted electric motor, giving it four-wheel drive. Porsche says the maximum total output is 575kW, while the torque output is rated at more than 750Nm. Porsche said that when it’s all said and done, the 918 Spyder should pump out 770-hp with a 0 to 62 mph time of 3.2 seconds with a top speed of more than 200 mph. Fuel-economy should come in around 3 liters/100km or 78.4 mpg US.
2013 Porsche Sport cars Prototype 918 Spyder
2013 Porsche Sport cars Prototype 918 Spyder “Race Hybrid” is the mode for the highest possible performance and especially sporty dri -ving style. The combustion engine is chiefly used under high load, and charges the battery when the driver is not utilising the maximum output. The electric motors provide additional support as necessary in the form of a boost when the driver requires even more power. The electric motors are used up to the maximum power output limit in order to provide the best possible performance for the race track. In this mode, the battery charge state is not kept constant, but instead fluctuates across the entire charge range. In contrast to Sport Hybrid mode, the electric motors run at their maximum power output limits for a short time, thus ensuring better boosting. This increased output is balanced out by the combustion engine charging the battery more powerfully.
The main source of propulsion is the 4.6-litre, eight cylinder engine delivering more than 570 hp of power, which was directly derived from the power unit in the successful RS Spyder and explains why it delivers engine speeds of up to 9,000 rpm. Like the RS Spyder’s racing engine, the 918 Spyder power unit features dry-sump lubrication with a separate oil tank and oil extraction. In order to save weight, the four extraction pumps are made of plastic. Further extensive lightweight design measures resulted in.
2013 Porsche Sport cars Prototype 918 Spyder
The 2013 Porsche Sportcars Prototype 918 Spyder’s multi-link chassis is inspired by racing car construction, comple -mented by additional systems such as the adaptive shock-absorber system PASM and rear-axle steering. Basically, this comprises an electro-mechanical adjustment system on each rear wheel. The adjustment is speed-sensitive and executes steering angles of a few degrees in each direction. The rear axle can therefore be steered in the same direction or the opposite direction to the front wheels. At low speeds, the system steers the rear wheels in the opposite direction to the front wheels. This makes cornering even more direct, faster and more precise, and reduces the turning circle. At higher speeds, the system steers the rear wheels in the same direction as the front wheels. This minimises the “pushing” of the vehicle’s rear end when changing lanes quickly. The result is very secure and stable handling. The exhaust system is racing car inspired, with short muffler pipes that come out of the top of the car’s rear end, next to the engine. The seven-speed PDK dual-clutch automatic transmission has been fitted upside-down to lower the 1700kg car’s centre of gravity. It also has rear-axle steering for better control through slow corners.
All that technology is expected to come at a price, though. Estimates suggest the 2013 Porsche Sportcars Prototype 918 Spyder could cost upwards of $750,000. As to be expected, the plug-in hybrid sports car will command a princely price tag, which Porsche has indicated will start at $845,000.

THE OFFICIAL PRESS RELEASE

Race car for customer sport now with even better driveability

Stuttgart. Amongst racing customers all over the world, the Porsche 911 GT3 R is extremely popular for its forgiving handling and basic speed. And it is exactly in this direction that the improvements for the 2012 model year have been targeted. The engine output has increased by 20 hp to now deliver 500 hp (368 kW). Paddle-shifts on the steering wheel ensure gear changes are even quicker and simpler, making it easier for pilots to concentrate on braking. Moreover, the transmission electronics, featuring an automatic throttle blip control, make it almost impossible to miss a gear and over-rev the engine. A softer anti-roll bar on the front axle reduces understeer.

The power increase of the four-litre, six-cylinder flat engine in the rear was achieved through optimisation of the intake system. The gearing of the sequential six-speed dog-type gearbox was adapted to the higher maximum output. In order to bring the power to the tarmac safely and to assist race drivers, the 911 GT3 R has featured a sophisticated ex-works traction control since the 2010 model year. An efficient race-ABS assists braking.

The new Porsche 911 GT3 R will be delivered to teams around the world from November 2011. The vehicle costs 304,500 Euro plus the value added tax of respective countries. The Porsche 911 GT3 R from the 2010 and 2011 model years can be upgraded to the 2012-spec. An upgrade kit is available from Porsche Motorsport for 43,100 Euro.

The 911 GT3 R represents the mid-range of Porsche's customer racing vehicles. The 911 GT3 Cup, as the top-selling race car in the world, serves as the basis. Ranking above the 911 GT3 R is the 911 GT3 RSR, built for GT2 racing, which competes in series like the American Le Mans Series, the Le Mans Series and at the Le Mans 24 hour race.
